Rose, Robin & May by ME Drewson

Setting: nineteenth century rural England

Summary: 8 year old Rose, with her little brother Robin and baby May (18 months old) are left as orphans when their mother dies. Their uncle takes them in but his wife is not so happy about the arrangement, especially with Rose and Robin. However, the servant, Susan takes pity on the children loving and caring for them as her own. She was able to continue on with teaching the children about the Lord Jesus Christ as their mother had wished. However, though Rose and Robin come to love the Lord Jesus they, as we all do, had much to learn and many troubles to experience. As they learn, their love for the Lord shines out to those around them softening their aunt's heart toward them.

Message: The Lord Jesus Christ is the only one who can save us from the penalty of sin. Through faith in Him we can go to heaven. Many other lessons in the Christian faith, including the trouble of the two natures and the need to choose to do right.

Other: This book has a wonderful message and is a truly sweet story. However, it is written in an old style so most likely would not be appreciated by children who do not come from a Christian home and are not confident readers. Possibly fiction.
